HostPapa partners with Apache.org

BURLINGTON, ON, July 31 2017

Canadian-owned and operated web hosting and cloud service provider HostPapa, Inc. is proud to announce their partnership with Apache.org. The Apache Foundation is a charitable organization whose goal is to develop and maintain open-source software, including their widely-used Apache HTTP Server.

“HostPapa believes strongly in supporting open-source software development,” says Jamie Opalchuk, HostPapa’s CEO. “Foundations like Apache.org are crucial in the development and maintenance of open-source software that we can all benefit from. That’s why it’s great to be able to partner with them to help expose Apache and their projects to so many new potential users.”

Apache launched in 1995 with the focus of providing a secure, efficient and extensible server that provides HTTP services in sync with the current HTTP standards. Following the launch, Apache’s HTTP Server quickly became the most popular web server on the internet, and today it’s estimated to serve 46% of all active websites. Following that initial success, Apache also began expanding its software development into other areas, and currently has around 350 active open source projects and initiatives. Partnerships like the one with HostPapa allow the Apache community to continue their mission: to have their software used by and benefit everyone from small business and individuals, to large companies and research facilities.
